Our Story
By the grace of God

Church of Christ Albany was established in 1967. It was birthed through a group of people who had relocated from Perth to Albany and desired to establish a Church of Christ in the region. It’s initial membership was approximately 30-40, the church first met in the home of one of it’s members. As the church grew it moved to Spencer Park Primary School before relocating to a permanent building in David Street Spencer Park. The building was expanded in the 1970’s as the church membership grew.

Sadly in the1980’s divisions grew within the church and approximately half the congregation left. This was a very difficult time for all involved in the life of the church. However by the grace of God there was healing and restoration and the church was reestablished.

In the early 2010s the church in faith sold, and moved out of their David Street home. A larger block had been purchased with the intention to be near the growth corridor for Albany, where new homes and communities were being established. As the current building was being constructed the church found a temporary home in PCYC. During this time the church experienced significant growth.

In 2017 the church, now a family of 200-300 believers moved into their new home This was the fulfilment of a long term plan for the church with the land being purchased some decades earlier. The vision for this site was to be a community centre that would resource the church to reach out to it’s local community. Currently, Alta-1 Middle School, The Great Southern Badminton Association, Carnaby's Playgroup and several basketball and other sporting clubs call the church community centre (Carnaby’s) home. This along with regular church activities, and other external bookings makes for a busy community. The church is still cultivating it’s own community via events like camps, fellowship lunches, community carols and bonfires.

The church desires to continue on mission to spread the gospel to Albany and beyond and is thankful to God for His grace to us as we seek to serve Him.
