The Centre is located in the heart of Cairns, and houses some of the most vibrant arts organizations in Far North Queensland. KickArts, the resident visual arts company, presents an exciting, ever-changing program of contemporary art from artists from the region, including indigenous artists, and manages a successful shop featuring unique art, craft and design.
To find out more about KickArts’ exhibitions and public programs, visit www.kickarts.org.au. The KickArts galleries and shop are open from 10am until 5pm Tuesday to Saturday (closed public holidays), and admission is free.
JUTE Theatre, the resident professional theatre company at the Centre, has been described as a ‘national living treasure’ (Playwright Peter Matheson), producing a season of new Australian plays each year and encouraging new voices in Australian theatre through its playwright programs and residencies. For more on JUTE, visit www.jute.com.au.
The Centre of Contemporary Arts is also home to the End Credits Film Club (www.endcredits.org.au), which presents quality, non-mainstream films on the second Sunday of each month in the JUTE Theatre.
